Chapter 756: Zarik Household

This chapter is updated by Novels.pl

Within the Zero Rings, thousands of kilometres away from the Awakener Association building, a huge estate could be seen, with various buildings spreading across the land. One didn’t need to look too much to know that this estate belonged to one of the powerhouses within Zero State, particularly a Noble Household.

The estate belonged to the Zarik Noble Household, and within it, various maids and butlers could be seen walking around while carrying out different duties. Guards could also be seen patrolling the area diligently, with various luxurious cars lined up in neat rows, further displaying the wealth and authority of the household.

Within the main building, a man could be seen sitting inside a chamber, his eyes fixed on a mobile device, a tablet, as he read through several emails related to the family business. He was Duke Adam Zarik, father to Maximus Zarik.

As Duke Adam Zarik read through the emails, a knock suddenly echoed through the room. He paused, his eyes flickering towards the door before he finally spoke.

"Come in."

The door opened, and a man dressed in a butler uniform walked in with a calm stride.

"You know I don’t like being disturbed when I’m taking care of family business and matters," Duke Adam spoke, his orange eyes meeting his butler’s black ones.

"I apologise for the disturbance, but there’s been a development," the butler replied calmly with a respectful tone.

"Regarding?" Duke Adam Zarik asked.

"The second Young Master," the butler replied calmly.

"What is it this time?" the Duke asked as his eyes narrowed slightly.

He had given birth to three children, two boys and one girl, who was the youngest. The first son and eldest child was named Hilton Zarik, who possessed immense talent and was already in the third year of the Heavenly Academy. He was the pride of the Ducal Zarik family and was set to inherit the Ducal title. The last child, Elizabeth Zarik, was also a genius in her own right and was on track to begin attending the Heavenly Academy in the near future.

And as for his second child, Maximus, he had always been a headache to the Duke. Because he wasn’t as talented as his elder brother and younger sister, he had fallen into becoming absolutely nothing useful to the family. Still, the Duke continued assigning guards to him and overlooked his mischievous behaviour… after all, out of sight meant out of mind.

The butler walked up to the Duke, double-tapped on his tablet screen, then passed the tablet to the Duke.

The Duke took the tablet, then read the article for a moment before his face twisted into a frown.

As for what he was reading, it was simply what had transpired between Asher and Maximus at the shopping skyscraper, with Asher reducing the guards to nothing with a single attack each, while also slapping Maximus three times before the boy fell unconscious.

"Did anyone publish this?" the Duke asked as his frown slowly vanished.

"No one dares to, Duke Adam," the butler spoke. "But I got this from my sources."

"Some foreigner actually dared to touch my son and guards?" Duke Adam Zarik asked, his tone turning cold and merciless for a moment.

While he detested his son for being untalented and even damaging the Zarik family name, it didn’t mean he would allow any random person to hit or beat up his son. If he allowed that, then what would that imply? That the Zarik family could be provoked and humiliated by anyone? That they could be looked down upon?

Besides, no Noble Household from the Thalvorn Empire had ever touched his son, Maximus. The most they ever did was mock him openly and look down on him with disdain.

"Should I make him disappear?" the butler asked, clearly referring to killing Asher and discarding the body afterwards.

The Duke was about to nod in agreement when he suddenly paused for a moment before asking, "What is the boy’s name?"

"Asher Wargrave," the butler replied with the same calm tone.

At those words, the Duke immediately froze in his seat, his eyes widening slightly in shock as disbelief surfaced within them. For a moment, he felt like calling Maximus over simply to beat the living crap out of him. Out of everyone to offend, the fool had offended the Wargraves.

But as the thought crossed his mind, another thought echoed within his head… wasn’t Asher supposed to be the first trash Wargrave, a Wargrave who awakened on his third attempt, the living embodiment of the Wargrave decline? Yet that same boy had effortlessly handled three guards at the Swiftstar Life Rank.

"Are you sure the Asher kid handled the guards by himself?" Duke Adam asked the butler.

"Yes. There is even a video of it," the butler replied as he immediately swiped to the video before passing the tablet to the Duke once more.

Watching the video, Duke Adam frowned deeply as he fell into thought.

’Was the news about the Tenth Sun being trash false?’ he asked himself internally.

’I should have doubted the news when I first received it. After all, how can a Wargrave truly be trash?’ he thought to himself once more.

"Drop this matter and don’t bring it up anymore," Duke Adam stated with a sigh, his mind subconsciously shifting towards the horrifying image of Malrik visiting him in the dead of night for a quick and very friendly ’chat.’

The butler was confused. He didn’t understand why the Duke was suddenly dropping the matter entirely.

The Duke recognised the butler’s confusion and spoke, "You are new to the job, so it’s normal you won’t know much about the Wargraves. Meet the former butler and tell him to brush you up on information regarding the Wargraves."

"As the Duke orders," the butler replied before turning to leave, but the moment he reached the door, the Duke spoke again.

"And tell Hilton not to pursue this matter. He must have found out about it by now, and I’m sure he would want to protect the Zarik name by taking action. Tell him this is a direct order from me," Duke Adam stated in a rigid tone.

"As the Duke orders," the butler replied before finally leaving the chamber.

Duke Adam heaved a sigh of relief. He had nearly allowed his butler to attack a Wargrave. He had killed and made a lot of people and made them disappear over the years, but that couldn’t be done this time.

After all, the legends of the Wargraves, especially Azaron and Malrik, weren’t confined to a single Empire. This father-and-son pair were simply too monstrous not to be known by the entire world. Their names alone carried pressure capable of suffocating countless individuals, and even the mere possibility of standing against them was enough to make powerful figures hesitate cautiously.
