There was a powerful, surging new energy coursing through Lupus’s body, vibrating through every fiber of his being. He could feel it clearly, but it was a strange and alien sensation, largely because the power itself almost didn’t feel like it was a natural part of him. It was vastly different from the ice powers he had obtained after consuming the Mythical Altered Ice.
That previous change had felt like a permanent, foundational alteration that had occurred to his very biology. When he used those specific elemental powers, his shoulders would slightly grow in size, the tips of his fur would instantly freeze into crystalline needles, and he enjoyed a significantly improved healing rate on top of his already fast natural recovery.
For Lupus, that had become effortless; he simply used those powers as an extension of himself with subtle physical changes. But this current state was a complete transformation, a total metamorphosis, and it didn’t feel like it was a part of his own essence.
As the seconds ticked away, it almost felt like time itself was slipping through his fingers. However, unlike the primal fog of his True Alpha form, Lupus remained completely sound of mind. He was a conscious observer within the beast, able to see and feel every single thing that was going on around him with heightened clarity.
‘I don’t know how long this will last, so I need to make sure I make the most of it!’ Lupus thought, his mind racing to match his body's new tempo.
Lupus leapt from the ground, the force of his larger, more muscular legs and expanded upper body propelling him upward with terrifying strength. He was able to leap a great distance, moving almost effortlessly compared to his previous form. Where his feet had pushed off the earth, a jagged ring of ice was left behind, cracking the stone in a frozen circle.
As Lupus ascended into the air, new instincts were just naturally coming to him, guiding his unfamiliar limbs. His large, thick tail started to wrap around his shifting body, coiling with predatory grace until the tip was pointed directly toward where Unzoku stood below. The edge of the tail started to frost over rapidly, the ice thickening until it became a sharp, jagged blade of frozen energy.
Right after that alignment was set, Lupus’s body began spinning at an incredibly fast rate. To anyone watching from below, it looked as if a giant sword made entirely out of ice was falling from the sky with the weight of a meteor.
Unzoku, reacting to the impending strike, continued to gather the swirling red mist energy in both of his hands. He spread his legs to brace for the impact, and then, just as the large ice sword came screaming toward him, he slapped his hands together in a desperate attempt to catch and crush the projectile. But the effort was useless; the massive body and overwhelming force of Lupus managed to cut right through Unzoku’s physical defense and his very body.
“You know it’s going to be a lot harder than that to kill me!” Unzoku claimed, his voice a roar of defiance. He thought that since he was still alive and standing, he could just focus on crushing Lupus in a close-quarters struggle.
But Lupus was already one step ahead. Slipping out of the momentum of the ice sword attack, Lupus’s body came out of the other end of the Ice sword and landed gracefully on the ground several meters away. Now, there was nothing left in front of Unzoku but a giant, jagged ice shard that remained stuck deep in his body where the strike had landed. Rather quickly, Unzoku’s hands, still wreathed in the red mist, crushed through the ice, shattering it into thousands of frozen fragments. But even with the ice gone, the large, gaping wound was still visible, refusing to close instantly.
Ignoring the damage, Unzoku charged his fist with energy and swung it out in a wide arc. Immediately in response, Lupus opened his mouth wide, revealing his transformed state. His two large front teeth slammed right into Unzoku’s incoming hand. The moment those teeth pierced through Unzoku’s toughened skin, the entire arm looked to instantly freeze over. The elemental power in this form was incredibly strong, far surpassing his previous limits.
Unzoku managed to wrench his arm away, but the limb remained frozen over, the ice dulling his movements and chilling his blood.
“ARGHHH!” In a fit of pure, unbridled anger, Unzoku leapt with the full might of his body. He was ready to tangle with this new creature head-to-head, seeking a match of raw power if that was what it took to regain control. In truth, he was simply frustrated and overwhelmed by everything that had been happening so far in the fight.
Leaping up at just the right time allowed Lupus to position himself slightly above Unzoku in the air. Then, using his large tail and the flat end of its sharpened point, he slammed it right down into Unzoku’s torso. A massive shockwave of ice erupted in every direction upon impact. Unzoku was sent reeling toward the floor, slammed into the ground with enough force to create a fresh crater in the ruins.
It was then that Unzoku finally began to realize the gravity of his situation. He wasn’t just losing this fight; he was being completely outmatched in every category. Having already drawn out as much power as he possibly could from his own reserves, he couldn’t see a clear way of winning anymore.
While Unzoku struggled to rise, Lupus could feel something powerful brewing deep in his mouth. The piercing blue in his eyes was starting to shine with a brilliant, blinding light. In the gaps between his hardened scales and the veins pulsing along his body, a glowing blue energy was seen rising. The light moved up toward Lupus’s neck, illuminating his throat from the inside.
Lupus could tell instinctively that this was the strongest attack he had in his entire arsenal now. He kept his gaze fixed, the glowing maw pointed right at Unzoku, ready to end the conflict once and for all.
